Six pictures – the Vigil Mass before the March for Life, at the DC Basilica of the Immaculate Conception

The Basilica was literally wall to wall. Mostly young, with people in the side altars watching the main altar by closed circuit. At the end of the Mass there was a Eucharistic Procession around the Basilica to begin the Holy Hour. The Basilica upper church official capacity is 9,000. Judging by the number of standees, there were 10,000 to 11,000 attendees.

Note the umbrella or awning above the Bishop carrying the Monstrance.

There were dozens of West Point cadets at the Vigil.

Coming soon – two dozen great signs – many handmade – at the March!

  1. Was Wilton Gregory there?

  2. Who said the Vigil Mass?

  3. Wilton Gregory was at the Vigil Mass but we did not spot him at the March. The Vigil Mass homilist was Bishop Michael Burbidge who we think was also the main celebrant.
