For them it didn&#39;t exist.<\/p>\n<p>For the past several years the Washington Post has provided good and fairly objective coverage.&#0160;<\/p>\n<p>This year, spotty coverage, and you can decide on the slant.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#39;s the article &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/thousands-of-youths-join-antiabortion-march-for-life\/2012\/01\/23\/gIQAXL85LQ_story.html\" target=\"_self\">Thousands of youths join antiabortion March for Life<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are two letters to the editor, responding to the coverage &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/bring-balance-to-roe-v-wade-coverage\/2012\/01\/24\/gIQAvUZhcQ_story.html\" target=\"_self\">Bring balance to Roe v. Wade coverage<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And this is what the Washington Post Ombudsman wrote &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/march-for-life-coverage-was-informative-but-presented-a-misleading-picture\/2012\/01\/27\/gIQA9lbPWQ_story.html\" target=\"_self\">An incomplete picture of the March for Life<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230; you can find images of the large crowd taken by amateurs on Flickr or Facebook, and I imagine the AP took some, too. Probably Post photographers did as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">But these shots didn\u2019t find their way into the main Web <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/march-for-life-draws-thousands\/2012\/01\/23\/gIQAp73wLQ_gallery.html\">photo gallery on the march<\/a>. And I think this is where The Post fell down in its coverage of the march this year. And that\u2019s mostly what antiabortion readers wrote to me about.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The online photo gallery contains 10 photos: seven tight shots of antiabortion demonstrators, two of protesters from the small abortion-rights counter-demonstration <em>(HVCL NOTE; about 20 pro-aborts)<\/em> on the steps of the Supreme Court and one that showed both sides confronting each other there. In fact, eight of the 10 shots were taken at the high court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Emotional shots make better photos, yes, but I would have chosen more from the broad expanse of the rally, and at least one photo showing a lot of cheerful, festive people, which is what I see at most demonstrations that I have covered over the years, regardless of the issue at hand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Vernon Loeb, Post Local editor, said, \u201cIn retrospect I wish we had given readers a better sense of the overall magnitude of the march.\u2009.\u2009.it was far larger than 17,000.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Said Post Director of Photography Michel du Cille, \u201cWe can never please this crowd. We try for fairness to show both sides.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Small potatoes, but at least the Ombudsman admitted this year&#39;s coverage was lacking.
