We also remember the late Kevin<br>\nRielly who with his daughter Maura by his side, courageously battled illness to<br>\nthe end. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">We<br>\nwish to now acknowledge those members of the County Board of Legislators here<br>\nwith us today, and we invite them to say a few words: The Honorable, Sheila<br>\nMarcotte District 10 and Michael Smith District 3. The Hon. Gordon A. Burrows<br>\nand John G. Testa support WEDR, but were unable to attend today. Cuomo\u2019s<br>\nWomen\u2019s Equality Act. This narrowly won battle for life, and its intended<br>\nconsequences for women, challenge us all to speak and act boldly. Being here<br>\ntoday counts, so share the experience with others.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">As<br>\nmost of you know in 2006 Carol Crossed, President of the <\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Susan<br>\nB. Anthony Birthplace Museum, purchased the original Susan B. Anthony house in<br>\nAdams, Massachusetts for the museum. It is teaching <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">true feminism<\/span> daily<br>\nat their location and website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.susanbanthonybirthplace.com\/\">www.susanbanthonybirthplace.com<\/a>.<br>\nWhat do we mean by this?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">(Judy)<span style=\"mso-tab-count: 1;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">This<br>\nyear we listened in shock as Gov. Cuomo addressed 150 people at Wesleyan Chapel<br>\nat the Women\u2019s Rights National Historical Park, the site of the first Women\u2019s<br>\nRights Convention in July 1848. He used Seneca Falls, the birthplace of the<br>\nwoman\u2019s movement, as a platform to push his Women\u2019s Equality Act; an Act that<br>\nincluded the most sweeping abortion expansion since Roe vs. Wade; an Act that<br>\nwould have codified infanticide; an Act that held hostage by its abortion<br>\nplank, concrete ideas for women\u2019s betterment in society, with legislation<br>\nagainst sexual harassment, human trafficking, pregnancy and housing discrimination,<br>\nequal pay for equal work. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp;<\/span>(Judy continues)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">To<br>\nchallenge this affront to the facts and true feminist legacy, Carol Crossed<br>\nspoke these words, quoted in Kathryn Jean Lopez\u2019 NRO piece entitled <em>Andrew<br>\nCuomo\u2019s History Problem<\/em>. In it Carol accused Gov. Cuomo of \u201cdesecrating\u201d<br>\n\u201choly ground\u201d by \u201cadvancing abortion in Seneca Falls.\u201d Carol also said,<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">\u201cthe<br>\nsuffragists, even when they lacked birth control, education and work<br>\nopportunities, condemned abortion in the strongest terms, calling the practice \u2018child-murder\u2019,<br>\n\u2018infanticide\u2019, and \u2018pre-natal murder\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Because<br>\nslavery and women\u2019s inequality were abuses of humans as \u2018property\u2019, Elizabeth<br>\nCady Stanton said, \u201cWhen we [women] are considered the property of men, we<br>\ncannot treat our children as our property to destroy as we see fit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">They<br>\nalso believed women needed the resources to support their children, not<br>\n\u2018access\u2019 to destroy them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Besides<br>\nthe taking of a child\u2019s life, the suffragists said abortion allowed or<br>\nencouraged the promiscuity of men. The recent scandal in the NY State<br>\nLegislature where the Speaker of the Assembly Silver (D) silenced sexually<br>\nharassed women with payoffs with government money is a case in point. Abortion<br>\naccess and expansion by Cuomo and government leaders is another inducement to<br>\nallow men to take advantage of women.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Lopez<br>\ncontinued, \u201cCrossed calls the governor\u2019s invocation of the suffragettes as<br>\ncover for his abortion expansion \u201chistorically inaccurate.\u201d Forty years into <em>Roe<\/em>,<br>\nwe should be ashamed of ourselves as Americans for not doing more to protect<br>\nunborn innocent life and helping women feel like they can choose motherhood as<br>\ncrisis-pregnancy centers and maternity homes do. Instead, Andrew Cuomo<br>\ncampaigns for abortion expansion in a state where the numbers of pregnancies that<br>\nend in abortion are miserably high, misrepresenting not only his legislation,<br>\nbut history along the way.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">(Judy<br>\ncontinues)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText2 wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Carol\u2019s<br>\nefforts remind us of our inspiring recipients of the Mott-Stanton-Anthony<br>\naward. You will find all their names on your program and many of you will<br>\nremember when they were with us on this day recalling our role models in<br>\nhistory.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">(Regina)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Imagine.<br>\nWe celebrate 93 years of women\u2019s full citizenship in the American Experiment<br>\nknowing that our founding foremothers, Lucretia Mott, Susan B. Anthony and<br>\nElizabeth Cady Stanton, did not live to see it themselves. Their love of truth<br>\nand its intimate connection to freedom, however, permeates the genuine feminism<br>\nand the self-sacrificing humanism pro-life feminists follow today.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Knowledge<br>\nof the true feminist legacy is sadly being overshadowed by lies and falsehoods<br>\nand aggressive advancement of the \u201cchoice\u201d of abortion. This destruction of<br>\ninnocent human life continues to hurt women, too. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">(Regina<br>\ncontinues)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Choice<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\"> is also the name of the book written by our 2013<br>\nWoman of the Year. By contrast, it implicitly draws one to the life-giving<br>\nchoice of offering one\u2019s life for another, exercising the highest form of love<br>\nand of freedom known. Many ordinary people sacrifice everyday for the needs of<br>\ntheir family, friends, or community. Their choice is a participation in the<br>\nGood and the True, the One and the Beautiful. Such choice of the good opens<br>\nthem to greater freedom \u2013 freedom in the truest sense of the word.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">(Regina)<br>\n<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Barbara\u2019s<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>partner in her radio ministry is Bebe<br>\nDiamond, her daughter. She is the founder of<br>\nSilently Screaming Designs, a company that creates customized and affordable<br>\ninvitations, party goods, stationery and handmade goods.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Shortly<br>\nafter graduation, Martina re-wrote and published her book, <em>Choice<\/em>.
