On Friday, August 9th, with wonderful turnout and loads of enthusiasm. Here is the cheering section and supporters for this year’s honoree, Maria Teresa Rueda<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Regina Riely and Judy Anderson, the founders of Women’s Equality Day (Reformed) missing, Joy Dechario and Brigid Faranda stepped up and did a wonderful job as co-facilitators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a little delay as Yonkers County Legislator Gordon Burrows, who always sponsors the use of the Legislative room ran a little late so people were able to chat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Mr. Burrows congratulated the participants on the wonderful turnout and urged everyone to continue working hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the event began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s theme was Courageous Women Call for Hope and Life Solutions in New York<\/strong> <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria McFadden Maffucci of The Human Life Review<\/a> spoke briefly.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The honoree was Maria Teresa Rueda, of the Saint John Bosco Community in Port Chester, NY. Originally from Peru, Maria Teresa works as a Children’s Advocate at Westchester County Family Services. Her work there convinced Maria Teresa of the need to become active in the pro-life movement. She has worked to mobilize the Hispanic communities in several parishes to provide aid, including financial aid to women in need. She has also organized prayer groups in front of Planned Parenthood. Brigid made the presentation to Maria Teresa, while Joy spoke movingly of the need for us all to continue our efforts. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
